Salt spray resistant exterior cladding is a new type of environmentally friendly composite material made primarily from wood fibers (such as wood flour, bamboo flour, rice husks, and hemp fibers) and thermoplastics (such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC)) through processes such as high-temperature mixing, extrusion, injection molding, or compression molding.
It is not a simple physical mixture of "wood" and "plastic," but rather, with the help of additives (coupling agents, lubricants, antioxidants, UV stabilizers, colorants, etc.), two materials with different polarities form a strong interfacial bond, thus combining the natural texture of wood with the advantages of plastics such as water resistance, corrosion resistance, and ease of molding.

Co-extrusion Technology: Co-extruding a layer of high weather-resistant material (such as ASA or PMMA) onto the outer layer of ordinary WPC to achieve better resistance to fading, staining, and aging-i.e., "marine-grade" or "high-end co-extruded WPC."
Foamed WPC: Reduces density and improves sound and heat insulation performance, suitable for interior decoration.
High-Performance Additives: The application of nanomaterials, long-lasting UV protectants, and antifungal and antibacterial agents further extends lifespan.
Bio-based Plastics: Replacing petroleum-based plastics with biodegradable plastics such as polylactic acid (PLA) to achieve fully bio-based WPC.
Production Process Flow: The typical extrusion process for producing WPC profiles is as follows:
Raw Material Drying: Wood fibers must be dried to a moisture content below 1% to prevent high-temperature degradation.
High-Speed Mixing: Wood flour, plastic particles, coupling agents, lubricants, etc., are added to a mixer according to the formula and heated to 100-120℃ to soften the plastic and coat it with wood flour.
Granulation or Direct Extrusion: The mixture enters a parallel twin-screw extruder, where it is melted and plasticized at 160-200℃, and then molded into sheets, profiles, or irregularly shaped parts.
Cooling and Shaping: The material is shaped by water or air cooling, and then drawn and cut to obtain the finished product.
Surface Treatment: Embossing, sanding, heat transfer wood grain, co-extrusion (with a protective layer), etc., can be performed.

Q: Is it waterproof? Will it rot or crack?
A: 100% waterproof, it will not rot, crack or warp because the plastic phase completely blocks moisture.
Q: Will it fade or turn chalky under strong sunlight?
A: High-quality products (especially co-extruded products) contain UV stabilizers, which can keep the color from fading significantly for 5-10 years or more; ordinary products may show slight discoloration after 2-3 years.
Q: Can it withstand the corrosion from the high salt spray at the seaside?
A: Regular WPC is not recommended for long-term use at the seaside; marine-grade WPC has passed salt spray testing (>1000 hours) and is suitable for coastal environments.
Q: Is thermal expansion and contraction severe? Should gaps be left during installation?

Q: Will the surface get moldy or grow algae?
A: The material itself does not mold, but if it is kept in a damp and dark place for a long time, algae may grow after dust accumulates on the surface. Regular rinsing is sufficient.
